Extreme Programming at Agile Velocity

Software as a Service (SaaS) is becoming more and more popular, as it allows software users to enjoy all the functionality of a software system via a browser or thin client and not have to install a separate program on their computers.  It allows the software publisher to continually keep the software up to date without having to update user machines.  And it all gets sold on a subscription basis of recurring revenue.  It’s a win/win for everyone.

But someone has to write the SaaS software and maintain it, add new features and functions, debug it, Quality Control it, etc. just like any other software system.  And that takes a software development team.

Cloud Computing offers benefits along the same lines, i.e. having a third party take full responsibility for information, rather than storing it locally.  And for the most part, Cloud Computing is about remote information storage, information that can then be retrieved by a user from any device, anywhere.  It also frees computer users up from having to procure and maintain their own IT infrastructure of servers, routers, firewalls, etc.

Both SaaS and Cloud Computing are about offering users a higher degree of convenience, and hopefully in a more cost effective manner.  But again, someone has to build it and take care of it.  AppXoft can.
